Said the Robin to the Sparrow,
“I should really like to know
Why these anxious human beings
Rush about and worry so.”
Said the Sparrow to the Robin,
“Friend, I think that it must be
That they have no heavenly Father
Such as cares for you and me.” -Elizabeth Cheney
…Thou hast made all by thy wisdom; and the earth is full of they creatures.. All of them look expectantly to thee to give them their food at the proper time; what thou givest them they gather up..wehn thou takest away their breath, they fail…but when thou breathest into them, the recover…
Cast all your cares on him, for you are his charge.
Look at the birds of the air; the do not sow and reap and store in barns, yet your heaven Father feeds them. You are worth more than the birds!
If you spend more that a few moments outside, a couple of things become clear. God is very creative. God is a God of order. God cares for His creatures. If you’ve ever studied (even briefly) animals and how they are created, you leave amazed. God went into such detailed to make sure that His creatures had everything they need to live and survive. Yet, His creatures are vast and very different. He provides everything they need and gives them the camouflage, agility, etc. they need to survive predators.
Think of yourself and how you were made. The human body is an amazing thing to study. God’s attention to detail and His glorious wisdom are on full display. Now let me ask you a question, if God provides for the animals and if He has created your body in thousands of intricate ways; why are you anxious? Not only does He sustain your very breath, but (as a Christian) He died for you. He sent His Son to the cross to die and pay the penalty of your sin. He has adopted you as His child.
You are a child of the Creator of the Universe. God has taken A LOT of time and care to make you who you are. Why then, do you (or I) think that He is not intimately involved in your life. That anxiety that is plaguing your soul as you read this. Does not our Heavenly Father know our thoughts? Does He not hear our every prayer. The Bible is very clear. God is anxious to provide for and give good gifts to His child. Where’s your good gift? Why the trials? God’s answer is clear. Lay your anxieties at His feet and trust Him. When there does not seem to be an answer, do not fret. There is an answer and it will come. We expect things to happen immediately, but God has a different timeline. But, act He will. Answers will come (and they may be the best thing for you, “No”).
Waiting is a golden opportunity to draw from the well of our God’s strength and grace. Waiting (if you choose) is a beautiful time of leaning on the Savior and drawing closer to Him. Don’t waste your waiting. Don’t fret over your worries. Our God sees all and sovereignly orchestrates all. He will guide and protect you. He has promised. Even though it seems like there is no guidance, do not lose heart! What looks like silence is God’s hand moving and protecting you. Deliverance, answers, peace will come. Trust the Savior’s timing. Look to Him. Ask for His joy and strength. Be faithful with the daily adventures He puts in your path. Focus on Him. He has always promised to provide what is best for you!
